And then the gnat infestation started-just my luck.MrBrownThumbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11326733084344581944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14573299.post-7621417601649690102007-11-02T12:48:00.000-05:002007-11-02T12:48:00.000-05:00Thank you for this informative post! I will try and find one of those butterworts...lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133943147518051559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14573299.post-37942031368716746412007-10-29T12:36:00.000-05:002007-10-29T12:36:00.000-05:00Jodi,I love butterworts. I did a previous post Carnivorous Plants for Pest Control and I mentioned how you can use butterworts to naturally kill flying insects like fruit flies in your home. Around here sometimes I come across Mexican Butterworts at the drug store or big box garden centers. The Mexican Butterwort is considered tropical and is a good candidate for indoor/terrarium growing.

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing the story. Very cool.

Chris,

Yes they are pretty cool. The variety in the plants is pretty amazing to me. I wish I lived closer to an area where they grew naturally around me.

Thanks for stopping by.MrBrownThumbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11326733084344581944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14573299.post-41263510310054973782007-10-28T13:14:00.000-05:002007-10-28T13:14:00.000-05:00Aren't they the coolest things? I always feel so sad when I see these plants dying in a department store.
Have you ever seen a butterwort? I got introduced to them in the wilds of Newfoundland and up in Battle Harbour, Labrador too--another carnivorous plant like pitcher plants, but smaller and less obvious. I'd like to try them (and pitcher plants) down by the pond in the marshy area.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12107236871193698777noreply@blogger.com
