The Chicago Botanic Garden, Greencorps Chicago, The Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, and Open Lands will be hosting the 2007 Great Perennial Divide on Saturday, September 29th. This is an event where groups and gardeners from across the city of Chicago can swap, donate and/or receive perennials, trees and shrubs.
To be eligible to receive free plants you must be a community center, house of worship, block club or school certified by Greencorps Chicago. Individual gardeners in Chicago can participate in the plant swap if they donate perennials plants. You can also just donate plants for the event if you are thinning out plants from your garden or would like to help.
Registration must be completed by September 14th at 4:30 pm by filing out the form and reading the information at this link and faxing it to Greencorps Chicago. If you can't participate in this event mark your calender for the bulb swap that will be held on October 27th.
That is the coolest thing ever. Here we have single suburb plant sales, usually involving area master gardeners and other "garden club" members, but nothing citywide. If you're going, will you take pictures so I can drool?
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a similar kind of event here. It's a great way to share your plants and pick up new ones.
ReplyDeleteMy greedy little soul is totally envious! This sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHi BSG, Kate and Muum.
ReplyDeleteI finally signed up to register today and I'm hoping I'll be able to attend if anything for the possibility of getting a blog entry out of it. :)
